If you’re already covered by an equivalent health and dental plan (such as a parent or spouse’s employee benefit plan, or a plan provided by your band council or through Health Canada), you can opt out and receive a credit to your student account for the amount of the Plan. The British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP) doesn't provide coverage equivalent to the SUS Health & Dental Plan. Students can't opt out if they're covered only by MSP. You can only opt out during the Change-of-Coverage Period from Aug. 29 - Sept. 20, 2011. You’re responsible for paying all university fees within the prescribed deadlines. If you don’t pay the SUS Plan fee within the deadlines prescribed by the university, you may be assessed late fees and interest. If you successfully complete the opt out process before fees are due to the university, the fee will be reversed from your student account. Or, if you have already paid your student fees, a credit will be applied to your student account once the opt out has been completed. To have the Plan fee reversed prior to the fee payment deadline, be sure to opt out early.
