Who's Covered?

In this section, you'll find eligibility information for the Health & Dental Plan and family enrolments.

Vision and travel benefits are included in the Health portion.

Health & Dental Plan

Automatically covered students

• Eligible students enrolled in a graduate program at SFU in September or January, including:
- Off-campus students
- Part-time students
- International students

• Great Northern Way Campus students

Students not automatically covered but eligible to self-enrol

• Graduate students on approved leave

• Graduate students beginning their academic year in May

Qualifying year students enrolled in undergraduate level courses may be covered by the SFSS Plan for undergraduate students. They should check with Studentcare to confirm coverage.

All enrolments must be completed during the Change-of-Coverage Period. If you’re not sure if you're eligible, check your SFU student fee account or contact Studentcare.

Please note that students and their dependants aren't covered for out-of-province or out-of-country emergency services once they reach age 65. For more details, contact Studentcare.

Coverage for Your Family

If you’re eligible, you can enrol your family (spouse and/or dependent children) in the Health & Dental Plan for an additional fee. See the Couple & Family Enrolments section for instructions.
