Do I Need a Plan?
Do you wear glasses or contacts?Your Plan covers prescription glasses and contact lenses, eye examinations, and even laser eye surgery. Often, other insurance plans do not offer vision benefits. If you have another plan that includes vision, consider coordinating benefits between the two plans to receive additional coverage. Your student Plan also offers a Studentcare Vision Network in your area that provides you with additional discounts. To find a Vision Network care provider in your area, please refer to the Member Services menu on the right-hand side of the website.
Are vaccines mandatory for your program? Many academic programs, internships, and volunteer programs require mandatory vaccinations, which are covered by your student Health Plan.
How much control and privacy do you have over your plan?Studentcare never gives information to a third party without your consent, giving you complete control over your private medical history and claims.
Are you sure that you’re completely covered elsewhere? You might want to double-check. A parent's insurance plan will stop covering you completely if you’re a part-time student over 21 or a full-time student over the age of 25. As well, other plans may not cover travel insurance or vision care.
Is your parents’ health insurance enough? Most plans won’t cover all your health, dental, travel, and vision care costs on their own, but you can combine your student Health Plan with another plan for up to 100% coverage. To get more information about claiming and coordinating your benefits with another plan, read through the “How to Claim” section.
